Lay Chaplain
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Lay Chaplain.

This is a vital role within the school and it will to some extent be shaped by the gifts and character of the successful applicant. It is essential that the person appointed is a practising Catholic who is able to relate to pupils, staff and parents of all faiths and backgrounds.
This is a part-time (0.6-0.8FTE, ie 3-4 days per week) role during term time, with a limited amount of work in the school holidays in order to lead pilgrimages, trips and retreats.
For the right candidate, this role could be full-time, combined with a teaching timetable in the RE Department.
Accommodation may be available.
Closing date for applications is 12 noon, Tuesday 10 June 2025
Interviews will take place w/c 16 June 2025
Early applications are encouraged. Suitable candidates may be interviewed before the closing date and we reserve the right to withdraw the position if an early appointment is made.
To apply please complete an application form (available to download from the School’s website www.stbenedicts.org.uk) and return to recruitment@stbenedicts.org.uk. Further details can be obtained from the HR department: 020 8 862 2185 or email recruitment@stbenedicts.org.uk.
The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
The safeguarding responsibilities of the post include:
- child protection, discipline, health and safety
- promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.
The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
