We are delighted to announce the appointment of former Great Britain Olympian David Condon as our new Head of Hockey.

Having joined St Benedict's in September 2021 as our professional Hockey Coach, David has played a key role in the continued development and success of hockey across the school. Following the successful completion of his teacher training this year, he now takes on the leadership of the department, bringing a wealth of experience, expertise and ambition to the role.

David's appointment marks an exciting new chapter for hockey at St Benedict's. As an Olympian who represented Great Britain at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, he enjoyed an illustrious international career spanning more than a decade. A versatile midfielder and forward, David earned over 221 international caps for England and Great Britain, competed at multiple FIH Hockey World Cups and won three Commonwealth Games bronze medals with England in 2014, 2018 and 2022.
Most recently, David played for England in the 2023 World Cup in India and currently plays at club level in the Premier Division for Old Georgians. I currently play for Old Georgians, where they recently won the 2026 Premier Division title.

Commenting on his appointment, David said: "I am incredibly proud to take on the role of Head of Hockey at St Benedict's. I look forward to building on the excellent foundations already in place and supporting our pupils to achieve their full potential both on and off the pitch and help move hockey into an exciting new chapter."

Director of Sport, Zoran Higgins said,

“Since arriving at St Benedict's, David has already made a significant impact on the development of our players, combining his elite-level expertise with an infectious enthusiasm for coaching and teaching. His appointment as Head of Hockey reflects both his commitment to the School and our ambition to continue building one of the country's leading school hockey programmes. His experience competing at the very highest level of world hockey provides an extraordinary opportunity for our students to learn from one of hockey’s most accomplished players.”

The School looks forward to seeing the hockey programme continue to flourish under David's leadership and wishes him every success in his new role.
