ST BENEDICT'S GERMAN EXCHANGE 2026

Now in its 20th year, the St Benedict's German Exchange is underway once again. As part of our well-established exchange partnership with a German Benedictine school in Meschede (in the West German state of North Rhine-Westphalia), we welcomed German students to Ealing for a week in March.
Harry C (Year 8) reports:
On Saturday the 14th March, we all arrived at Ealing station at 4.45pm buzzing with excitement for our German exchange partners to arrive.
I met my partner Anton, and we headed home, where he quickly settled in (and requested chicken burgers for dinner!).
On Sunday, Anton came with me to Mass and choir rehearsal, which was a new experience for him. Afterwards, we went to central London as he had been keen to visit places like Harrods and Hamleys. We also had sushi in Soho, which we both really enjoyed.
During the week, Anton joined me in school for lessons, and we spent time with the rest of the exchange group. One evening after school, we all went to Park Royal for Nandos, bowling and to the arcade, which was great fun.

The next day, we also played a football match against the Molveno team at our school fields. Although we lost, it was still an enjoyable experience.

A highlight of the week was our trip into Central London, where we had a tour of Westminster Abbey in both English and German, followed by a trip to see Wicked. It was also great that the exchange took place during St Benedict’s Day, which meant Anton could experience all the activities and even help run a stall with my class.

The week finished with a farewell Mass and goodbyes back at Ealing Broadway. I really enjoyed the experience and am looking forward to visiting Anton in Meschede in September.
