'Storms and Shipwrecks' at Tate Britain

Children in Upper Prep (Year 4) enjoyed a trip to Tate Britain. 

St Benedict's Junior School Ealing west London visit Tate Britain

They were on a mission to research seascapes, as part of their ‘Storms and Shipwrecks’ topic this term. The Head of Art at the Junior School, Mr Markou, talked about the work of JMW Turner, before everyone looked closely for details and effects in the many wonderful paintings.

“My favourite painting was 'Burial at Sea' because it made me feel sad and emotional.”

“I liked ‘The Battle of Trafalgar' because it was colourful and had so much detail in it, like the French and British flags and the cannons.”

“I think 'The Battle of Trafalgar' was best because I really like History and that battle happened in real life.”

“My favourite was 'The Shipwreck' because it was very detailed and dramatic.”
