Our Junior Curriculum

From their first steps in our Nursery through to Year 6, pupils at St Benedict’s are encouraged to delight in learning and to follow their natural curiosity. We support them in making meaningful connections, asking thoughtful questions and developing a growth mindset, confident in their ability to progress. Everything we do is guided by a clear purpose: to enable every pupil to fulfil his or her potential.

SCIENCE

Science plays a vital role in preparing pupils for life in a world shaped by continual discovery and technological change. At St Benedict’s Junior School, our passion for science is reflected in teaching that is engaging, inclusive and rooted in our holistic approach to education. Pupils are nurtured as active learners, developing a secure scientific understanding alongside transferable skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom. Whether pursuing future studies, careers or active participation in a global community, pupils are equipped with the curiosity, confidence and resilience to meet the challenges ahead.

The Creative Curriculum

Our Junior School Creative Curriculum is designed to promote rich, cross-curricular learning, enabling pupils to make meaningful connections across subjects. Through topics such as the Tudors, Victorians, the Second World War, coasts and ice caps, pupils explore ideas in a variety of imaginative and engaging ways, fostering curiosity, deep understanding and a genuine enjoyment of learning.
