Hockey success

All St Benedict's hockey teams have had a great start to the season, winning most of their games so far!

The U12 girls have had a successful start to the year and have gelled well as a new team. They have beaten every school in the county they have faced, including fantastic wins against Latymer, and Godolphin and Latymer. To summarise, they have played 10 matches, won 6, drawn 2 and lost 2.

The U12s have beaten every school in the county they have faced."

The U13s (Middlesex champions last year) have continued their success of last year, with enthralling wins against Pangbourne and LVS Ascot. The most impressive result was inflicting Alleyn’s School’s only defeat of the season in round one of the cup. They will face Bede’s in round two which promises to be a fantastic match.

The U14s have had a mixed start to the season but had a promising performance in the Middlesex tournament, finishing third overall and drawing 0-0 with the overall winners Godolphin and Latymer.

The U15s have a 60% win ratio with the highlights involving a 3-0 victory over Notting Hill and Ealing with a fantastic hat-trick from Isabelle Haran. There was also an admirable 2-0 win over Pangbourne.

The U16s have only played together once this season, in the Middlesex tournament, and produced a strong performance to finish second having comfortably beaten Latymer, Notting Hill and Ealing and West London Free School. They now advance to the regional round which will take place in the second half of this term.

Overall, St Benedict’s hockey teams have played 69 matches, won 36, drawn 9, and lost 24 which leaves us with a win percentage of 52%, up 17% on last year."

The 1st XI had a challenging start to the season and narrowly lost to three strong hockey schools. They produced an excellent performance at the prestigious St George’s Sixes tournament, drawing with St John’s Leatherhead, Churcher’s College and Alleyn’s, beating KCS Wimbledon and thrashing Chaterhouse 6-0. The girls narrowly missed out on progressing further due to a close 2-1 loss against St George’s. We then went on a strong, five-match winning streak, including a comfortable 4-1 cup win against KCS Wimbledon. There is now strong competition for places in the squad and girls are continuing to push each other, which has resulted in winning 50% of their matches while playing a high calibre of opposition.

Overall, St Benedict’s hockey teams have played 69 matches, won 36, drawn 9, and lost 24 which leaves us with a win percentage of 52% , up 17% on last year. Well done all, and keep up the good work!
