Sixth Form (Years 12 and 13) (Senior)

The Sixth Form offers a friendly, supportive and purposeful environment in which students are challenged to achieve their personal best in academic, sporting and co-curricular activities. As students progress they pursue a path of increasing independence and continue to develop the skills they need to be successful. They are encouraged to reflect upon the principles and values they will hold as adults and consider in real terms ‘a way of living’ that reflects their personal beliefs and aspirations.

Relationships between staff and students are based on the Benedictine principles of respect, encouragement and support. Teaching groups are small with emphasis on individual achievement and personal development. All students are encouraged to take on leadership roles, which include mentoring of younger pupils and the running of clubs. All contribute to and benefit from the warm atmosphere which is a key feature of our Sixth Form.

Students are ably supported by an experienced team of tutors. Through tutorials, academic mentoring and the PSCHE (Personal, Social, Citizenship, Health Education) programme, they develop an understanding of their own strengths and of areas which require further development. Careers advice and guidance on university choice and application is available throughout the Sixth Form. This is delivered through seminars, a dedicated and well-resourced Careers Room and individual tutorials. We are proud of the successes of all our students. We have an strong record of success at Oxbridge entrance and many of our students gain places on the most competitive courses at other top universities, medical and art schools.

Through the General Religious Education programme students have the opportunity to discuss religious, ethical and moral issues and to reflect upon their own views and opinions. Many organise events to support specific charities. All contribute to a variety of projects which raise funds for communities across the world. The generosity of our students reflects their commitment to improving the lives of others and working towards a better world for all.
