ICT (Senior - Academic Curriculum)

The ICT Department leads technology in the school. We teach the youngest students for two years and then offer ICT at A Level. Further to this we oversee the use of education technology throughout the school and train our teachers to use these tools in all subjects. Every year more and more technology is used to support and improve the teaching and learning process, aiming to enrich St Benedict's students' education and prepare them for life after school. It is very much part of our mission of 'Teaching a way of living.'

We adopt all the latest technologies in the classroom, from social networking, blogs and wikis to video shooting and editing and ask the audience voting systems. Our teachers continue to learn new tools and tricks to vary the teaching methods in the classroom.

Bernard is our Web Learning Platform, built using Moodle and named after Dom Bernard Orchard, a former Headmaster of the school. Through Bernard we deliver learning materials and bring students together, working appropriately for the 21st century. The ICT Department is paperless with all work being completed, submitted, marked and returned to the student electronically.

Our Headmaster and the Governors are firmly committed to technology investment and to providing the student and staff community with the highest standard of education technology.

The ICT Department achieves excellent results in examinations, making our value added (how we achieve above predicted data for our students) one of the highest in the School.
