Co-curricular Drama (Senior)

Senior School Productions

The annual Senior School Production is a collaborative performance produced by the Drama and Music Departments and involves a great many boys and girls taking part as actors, singers, dancers, painters, designers, musicians and stage staff. It really is a fantastic team effort - auditions take place in September and rehearsals continue for the next four months until the performance week in February, which culminates in our ever popular ‘Bistro Night’ show. Previous full scale performances have included:- Little Shop of Horrors, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Cabaret, West Side Story, Grease and High Society.

Middle School Production

Our Middle School production is equally popular and enables all pupils from the lower years of the school to be actively involved. Recently we have seen outstanding achievements in performances of David Copperfield, Hamlet and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Lamda

All pupils in the school have the opportunity to take co-curricular LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) examinations throughout the Michaelmas and Lent terms. LAMDA examinations offer pupils an opportunity to focus on their creative and interpretative skills whilst working with other pupils in a small group environment.

Drama Club

A weekly drama club runs for pupils in Form 3 and Lower 4th (Years 7 & 8)

Dance Club

Dance club exists to bring together boys and girls in the upper years to explore drama through the medium of dance and movement. This culminates in a showcase entitled ‘The Event’, an annual charity fundraising evening involving dance and song. Last year we managed to raise nearly £7,000 in aid of Cystic Fibrosis.

Our success at the Edinburgh Festival coupled with the St Benedict’s ‘Performing Arts Festival’ has made Drama a popular subject choice at all ages.
