History (Junior - Academic Curriculum)

History in the Junior School begins as early as nursery level. At this time children begin to discover who they are and where they belong in history. This discovery continues through into the Junior School where timelines are introduced. A link is made between where a child is now in history and the past that is yet to be uncovered by them! Study of the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Anglo Saxons, Vikings, Normans, Tudors and the World Wars continues throughout all the year levels. Topics are revisited and investigated in different ways, building the children’s historical skills and linking together their prior knowledge to new discoveries. One school trip a year corresponds to the course of study being undertaken at that time.
